At Arizona Water Company, delivering a safe and reliable supply of water to our customers while ensuring the health and safety of our employees is our primary goal. As the circumstances surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic evolve, we want to give you an update on the actions we are taking across our company to protect the health and safety of our employees and customers and to help ensure that the communities we serve can continue to count on the critical water service that we provide.
As you may be aware, on March 11, 2020, Arizona Governor Doug Ducey issued a declaration of Emergency and an Executive Order to provide health officials and administrators with tools and guidance necessary to combat the continued spread of COVID-19 for the state of Arizona. On March 13, 2020, President Donald Trump declared a National State of Emergency. On March, 15, 2020 Governor Ducey announced that all schools will be closed and stated pursuant to the Centers for Disease Control’s (“CDC”) guidance that large events and mass gatherings should be cancelled. In light of these events, Arizona Water Company is implementing Phase Two of our emergency response plan. Phase Two continues heighten cleaning and hygiene protocols for our employees that was implemented in Phase 1 and adds in the following changes to our business effective through April 10, 2020:
- We have closed our local offices to non-employees including our customers and the general public.
- All service disconnections and late fees for residential customers have been suspended.
- All business meetings will be cancelled, including conferences and business travel.
- We are encouraging our employees to practice social distancing and to use phone calls and emails to communicate with fellow employees.
Arizona Water is a vital and critical resource to your community and we are doing everything we can to make sure our employees stay safe and healthy so that we can continue providing you safe and reliable drinking water.
APS is here to help.
The situation around COVID-19 Coronavirus continues to evolve and will impact our customers. During this time, we are making a few changes to help out:
- We are suspending shutting off power to our customers for non-payment.
- We are waiving late fees.
- We are setting up a Customer Support Fund for those who need assistance paying their bill. The fund will be available through our advisors by calling us at (602) 371-7171 (Phoenix) or (800) 253-9405 (other areas), weekdays from 7 am to 7 pm. We do expect call volumes could be high and will do our best to get to calls in a timely manner.
Customers who are past due on their APS bill can qualify for the fund if they have unexpected loss of income, higher medical or childcare expenses, or other financial hardship created by the COVID-19 virus.
